DOCUMENTARY

Some stories shouldn’t be told after they’ve happened.

They should be witnessed while they’re happening.

A real-time documentary following the conversations, decisions and defining moments behind something meaningful, before the outcome is known.

Tell me what’s happening

THE STORY IS ALREADY MOVING

THE PREMISE

There is a story happening that shouldn’t be missed.

We usually meet extraordinary stories once the outcome is known. The book succeeded. The athlete won. The company transformed. Then everybody goes backwards and reconstructs the journey.

But hindsight creates inevitability where there was uncertainty. It forgets the decisions before evidence, the conversations behind closed doors and the person who had no idea what would happen next.

WHY NOW?

The middle is where the story is.

I don’t only want to ask how it felt when you succeeded. I want to know what you believed on the Tuesday nobody replied.

What happened after the meeting that went terribly? What did your partner see? What did you nearly abandon? Who were you becoming before anybody else could see it?

Don’t recreate uncertainty later.
Capture it while it is still true.

THE STORIES

Something is happening here.

The common denominator isn’t industry. It is a story with movement, consequence and something human at stake.

01

A book being written before anybody knows how it will be received.

02

An athlete preparing for a defining competition or entering a new chapter.

03

An idea or movement beginning with one person and creating change as it travels through the world.

04

A brand, product or platform growing from an overlooked problem into something people begin carrying forward.

05

An entertainer reinventing themselves, or somebody rebuilding after public failure.

06

A company, team or community living through a historic transition.

07

An event or launch taking shape, from the first decision to the room filling with people.

WHAT IT BUILDS TOWARDS

Sometimes there is a defining moment. Sometimes the story is the ripple.

Some stories are moving towards a date everybody can see coming. A launch, an event, a race, an opening night. We can follow the preparation, the doubts and the decisions as they happen, then capture the day itself and what it sets in motion.

Others are already moving through the world, gathering people and creating impact as they go. An act of kindness passed from one stranger to another. A product solving a problem that has been ignored. An idea becoming a community. A new way of doing something beginning to take hold.

The film might premiere in the room, open the event or introduce the person before they walk on stage. It can give the audience a connection to the journey behind what they have come to witness. Or the film might grow alongside the work, capturing the people it reaches and the impact it creates while the story is still unfolding.

The film doesn’t simply capture what happened.
It becomes part of what happens next.

EMMA’S LENS

Not simply, “What happened?”

What did this require of the humans living through it?

The visible event gives us the setting. The human question gives us the film.

The book may be the event. I want to understand what is happening to the woman writing it.

The corporate transition may make the headlines. I want to know what it means to the people whose identities and careers sit inside it.

THE FORMAT

The conversation moves with the story.

This isn’t one formal sit-down interview conducted after everything has happened.

We might begin with a walk while the idea still feels uncertain. Meet again after the decision that changed everything. Talk in the middle of the setback, before anybody knows how it will be resolved. Return weeks or months later and discover that the person speaking now is no longer quite the person who began.

The subject might also share phone footage, voice notes, archive and pieces of life captured when I wasn’t there. Each conversation is shaped by what has happened since the last one.

I’m not sitting opposite you asking you to remember the journey. I’m alongside it, asking while it is still happening.

THE COMMISSION

You are not buying filming days. You are commissioning a way of seeing the story.

Editorial thinking

Research and story discovery

Access strategy

Conversations across the journey

Archive and participant footage

Narrative development

Production and post-production

Every documentary is scoped individually. The people, access, locations, schedule, crew, usage, rights, travel and budget are shaped around the story.

THE IMPACT

The story keeps more than a record of what happened.

FOR THE PERSON

A lasting record of who they were becoming before they knew how the story would end.

FOR THE AUDIENCE

A deeper connection to the human being behind the book, business, performance or defining moment.

FOR THE MOMENT

A film that adds meaning, context and emotional weight to the thing everybody has gathered to witness.

THE STANDARD

“Now I understand something I couldn’t see from the outside.”

What is being built now that people will wish they had witnessed from the beginning?

You might be the person living it. Or you may be the publisher, sporting organisation, company, brand, talent team or production partner who can already see the story.

You don’t need a finished brief. You need a story already in motion and a reason it matters now.
